My life experiences have fueled a deep interest in allowing children to be resilient and optimally grow, learn and develop.

Background

Dr. James Chattra joined our practice in 2001. He got his undergraduate degree at Harvard University, and then attended medical school at Columbia University. Dr. Chattra felt a calling to be a pediatrician for as long as he can remember. He envisioned himself working and caring for others as a young child, and is grateful to be able to live out his dream.

Before becoming a pediatrician Dr. Chattra was a schoolteacher for refugee children. This was a passion that was close to his heart – his children have four immigrant grandparents who overcame great challenges to establish themselves in the United States.

Dr. Chattra is the executive director of the North Pacific Pediatric Society, helping with continuing medical education for fellow pediatricians. He has also served on the Vaccine Advisory Committee of the Washington State Department of Health. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, and being physically active in one capacity or another. Dr. Chattra enjoys cooking, gardening, and reading. You may also discover his talent for magic tricks the next time you’re in the clinic.

Occasionally, providers may not be accepting new patients. Please check with the receptionist when scheduling an appointment.
